Who this policy covers

The policy applies to every visitor of olivewoodvegan.com. The portal is an independent information resource: it publishes verification materials about offshore casinos and nothing else. Visitors do not open gaming accounts, place bets or make payments through the site, so the editorial team never receives account details, deposits, verification documents (KYC) or payment information of any kind. There is simply no mechanism through which such data could reach us.

The portal handles personal information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy requirements, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply. Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies to the processing of personal data relating to individuals in the European Union, the portal also observes its relevant requirements.

What information the site collects

Three categories of data pass through the portal in the course of its normal operation:

  • Technical data of a visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages opened and the time of each visit.

  • Cookie data, which is described in detail in the separate Cookie policy.

  • Letters that a reader sends voluntarily: the sender’s address, the text of the message and any attached files, such as screenshots of correspondence with a casino.

Documents that readers forward to the editorial team deserve a separate note. When a reader sends material about a dispute with an offshore casino – for example, screenshots of chat logs with ThePokies support team – the portal uses these files solely to verify the facts of the case. Personal details visible in such materials stay out of publication: names, account numbers and e-mail addresses are removed or obscured before the files are put to use in any form.

Why the data is used

Information collected on the portal serves two purposes: the operation and security of the site, and communication with readers. Aggregated, depersonalised traffic statistics show the editorial team which verification sections are outdated and need a fresh review of regulator decisions or licence claims. Incoming letters are read and answered; nothing in this process feeds a marketing database.

The data is not sold, not passed to casinos and not used to advertise gambling products in any form. The portal does not promote operators, so there is no commercial reason to share reader information with them, and the editorial team would not do so in any case.

Who receives the data

Two categories of recipients exist, and both receive the minimum necessary. The hosting provider and the analytics service process technical data so that the site works and the editorial team can read attendance figures. Government agencies may receive information only on the basis of a lawful request.

Casinos – including the operator of ThePokies – receive no data about visitors of the portal. A reader who writes to the editorial team about a dispute can be certain that the operator on the other side of that dispute will not learn about the letter through us.

Protection and retention of information

Connections to the site are protected using TLS encryption. Access to correspondence and technical logs is limited to authorised editorial personnel and service providers who require access for hosting, security or maintenance purposes. Technical journals are kept for a limited period and then deleted. Personal correspondence is removed once the reader’s question is closed and no further reply is expected from either side.

Rights of the visitor

A reader may request a copy of the personal data the portal holds about them, ask for corrections, ask for deletion, or withdraw consent to optional cookies at any time. Requests go to the contact address below, and the editorial team responds in plain language.

If a reader believes the portal has handled their information incorrectly and is not satisfied with our answer, a complaint can be lodged with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the regulator responsible for privacy matters in Australia.

Changes and contact

This policy takes effect from the moment of its publication on olivewoodvegan.com and remains in force until a new version appears. A revised edition replaces the previous one in full.

Questions, requests and complaints about privacy are accepted at a single address: [email protected]. Please include a description of your request in the first letter so the editorial team can answer without follow-up questions.
