Why the portal exists

Offshore casinos targeting Australians change web addresses frequently, promise fast payouts and operate in a legal grey zone. Players are left with practical questions that advertising never answers. Is playing on such a site lawful? What does a stated licence from Curaçao actually guarantee? What happens when a withdrawal request is delayed or refused? Which authorities handle complaints, and what can they realistically do?

We built this portal to address those questions directly, using verifiable sources. Our main focus is ThePokies, whose frequent domain changes make it a representative case study in how offshore operations work. To be clear about what this site is not: it is not a casino, not a gaming provider and not a bookmaker. We accept no bets, process no payments, open no player accounts and host no gambling of any kind. Readers will find analysis here, never a place to play.

What our checks are based on

Every review follows the same documentary method. The sources we rely on are:

  • Decisions and guidance published by the regulator ACMA, together with the text of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

  • The casino's own licence claims and its terms and conditions, which we read in full rather than in extracts.

  • Public player reviews on Trustpilot, including the operator's replies, which often reveal how complaints are actually handled.

  • Trade press coverage of domain blocks and enforcement actions.

We do not deposit money, place bets or run test withdrawals. Our conclusions therefore come from records and testimony, not from personal play. Where figures from different sources conflict and cannot be reconciled against a document, we leave the number out entirely. An unverified claim has no place on a page whose purpose is verification.

What you will not find here

The portal deliberately excludes certain content. We publish no working casino addresses or mirrors, no instructions for circumventing blocks, no bonus codes, no lists of alternative offshore brands and no calls to gamble. The reason is legal as much as editorial: Australian law prohibits advertising of prohibited interactive gambling services, and distributing access points or incentives would fall within that prohibition. Our role is to describe and assess, never to direct readers toward offshore operators.

Who checks the materials

Materials on the portal are reviewed by Megan Whitlock, an analyst specialising in gambling regulation and consumer protection. Her working areas cover Australian law under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, offshore licensing regimes and payment disputes between players and unlicensed operators. She works directly with regulator records, licence claims and public complaint data rather than summaries prepared by third parties.

Each reviewed page carries dates marking when it was examined and when it was last checked, so readers can see how current the analysis is. If a regulator issues a new decision or an operator revises its terms, the relevant pages are revised accordingly.

Independence

No casino pays us, and no operator has any channel to influence our conclusions. An operator cannot have a critical passage removed from a review or soften how its responses to player complaints are presented. Where players report both successful outcomes and serious problems, the portal presents both accounts together, because a one-sided record is not a record at all. Our only obligation is to the accuracy of what we publish.

Updates and contact

Gambling regulation and offshore operator behaviour both change quickly: domains move, terms are rewritten, enforcement decisions appear. When this happens, the affected pages are updated and the review date is changed to reflect the new check.

Readers can contribute to that process. If you spot an error in our material or hold a document – a regulator decision, a licence claim, correspondence with an operator – that adds to the picture, write to [email protected]. Corrections and documented additions are welcome, and verified submissions become part of the published record. This policy takes effect from the moment of its publication on the site.
